Katharine Tate, (BEd (Hons), FAETC, Dip ION (Distinction), BANT, CNHC) is a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Founder and Director of The Food Teacher™, combining Education & Nutrition for a Health.

She has worked as a teacher and education consultant internationally in primary and secondary schools for over 20 years and published curriculum material for schools in the UK and abroad. With her growing following as The Food Teacher™ and her Young Chef Awards and free microbiome curriculum programme for schools The Micro Matrix, Katharine has developed an international reputation as an expert on the impact of nutritious food for all individuals especially growing children and families.

thefoodteacher.co.uk and Facebook are great FREE resources for families providing health advice, tips, competitions, recipes (most of which are gluten-free) and some amazing guest recipes.

Through her work in Schools, The Food Teacher Clinic, Community and Media Katharine delivers education and nutrition with a unique and engaging approach.

She has published 4 books: The Award Winning (Gourmand) 'No Kitchen Cookery for Primary Schools', 'No Kitchen Cookery for Irish Primary Schools', 'Now We're Cooking' (Delivering the National Curriculum through Food) and 'Heat-Free and Healthy' available from the The Food Teacher Shop and on Amazon.

Katharine also launched the Young Chef of the Year Award for schools in 2017, which has been hugely successful to date. 

Her growing media credits include contributing to books, family health expert for various magazines, blogs and radio. Katharine has also hosted a show on UK Health Radio with the focus on the importance of food to improve health and well being.

She has also launched a face to face and online 6 session course programme with Rose Butler a Metabolic Health Dietitian, The Metabolic Way.

Katharine is also a passionate speaker and naturally engages audiences when delivering workshops, seminars, events and talks. She talks about a vast range of subject areas depending on need. Some past events have included:

  • Busting health myths 
  • Food and play for Sleep
  • Healthy Ageing

She has also worked closely with other organisations including itsu and Global Health Care Projects as Education Programme Lead for their Inside Out Festival (September 2025).
